Bar La Rue: Reviews & Ratings
The entire experience was fantastic. Great atmosphere! We visited during restaurant week and enjoyed their lunch meal. The food was excellent! Probably the best spicy chicken sandwich I've ever had. The front of house staff work together really well and make sure that no table was forgotten. Drinks were always full. Tables clean. Stellar service. The DJ was banging! We celebrated our anniversary and was provided the best bread pudding I've had in years. Again one of the best I've had if not the best. 100% would recommend and would visit again.
Pricey but high-quality! We had the lobster roll and steak-frites. The steak (filet) was cooked to perfection, and the bearnaise sauce was excellent. Fries were fresh and crispy on the outside while being soft on the inside, which went great with the garlic aioli! Lobster roll was good for being in the Midwest. The ambiance made for a lovely Valentine's lunch.
I went for brunch and really enjoyed it. The French onion soup was the best I’ve had — seriously. The Royale Burger was good and very filling, but the French toast was the highlight. Super soft, moist, and just really well done. Service and atmosphere were great. Brandon W did an excellent job. I’d definitely go back.
I went to Bar La Rue a few weeks ago with my brother and his wife and honestly… everything was incredible. From the moment we sat down, the service was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind — which makes such a difference. The food was unreal. The tuna tartare was so good — fresh, balanced, and perfectly executed. And the mussels were hands-down the best I’ve ever had. The sauce alone deserves its own moment — deeply flavorful, rich, and absolutely addictive. Cocktails were fantastic, and as someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, I really appreciated how thoughtful and delicious the non-alcoholic cocktails were. They weren’t an afterthought at all — creative, balanced, and just as special as the rest of the menu. Beautiful space, amazing food, excellent drinks (NA included), and top-tier hospitality. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend.
Another place I got to check off the list. Found them searching for a spot that served the cheeseburger similar to Japan. The burger itself was amazing, great taste, the addition of the fondue cheese was everything I’ve anticipated . Also purchased their Caesar salad which was very flavorful. Overall good food and good drinks. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area.
Went for restaurant week, 30 dollars can’t be beat! Marco was an excellent server, thank you!! I ordered the French onion soup. - Crispy melted cheese on top, soft bread and onion at the bottom. I was honestly surprised of how good it was. I also ordered the Roasted Faroe Salmon. - Served over mashed potatoes and crispy croutons. Great overall!
Bar La Rue | Fulton Market, Chicago If you want to feel like you’ve been teleported from the industrial grit of Chicago’s West Loop straight into a neon-lit Parisian dream, Bar La Rue is your spot. I swung by last night, and honestly, my wallet is still a little mad at me, but my taste buds are doing a victory lap. The Vibe It’s French Bistro meets "I own a yacht but I'm casual about it." Think floral ceilings, velvet booths, and enough gold accents to make a king blush. It’s loud, it’s lively, and the people-watching is 10/10. If you’re looking for a quiet place to read a book, this isn't it. If you want to feel like the main character of a chic indie movie, get a table. The Food & Drink The menu is a love letter to France with a Chicago handshake. * The Burger: They call it the "Royale with Cheese" energy, and it lives up to the hype. * The Fries: Perfectly salty, dangerously addictive. * The Drinks: I had a cocktail that cost more than my first bike, but one sip of that $20 masterpiece and I suddenly understood why people buy art. The Damage Expensive. Let’s not sugarcoat it—you’re paying "Fulton Market tax." You can easily drop a Benjamin here before you’ve even looked at the dessert menu. It’s definitely a "celebration" or "first date you really want to impress" kind of place. Pro Tip: Grab a seat at the bar. The bartenders are fast, funny, and you get the best view of the gorgeous decor without feeling tucked away in a corner. Final Verdict: Go for the aesthetic, stay for the fries, and maybe don't check your bank account until the next morning.
Hi, hey, hello chi-foodies and windy city visit-tees. The owners of Bar La Rue should take a bow!! BLR embodies EXACTLY what a restaurant experience should be - A+++ service, super flavorful food with stellar presentation and GORGEOUS atmosphere. The vintage chandeliers intertwined with the florals enhances the atmosphere and makes it relaxing. I am also a sucker for dark restaurants. If you glance to the back, there are “windows” that will take you right on the Sienne in Paris. I absolutely love this restaurant. On our table was shrimp cocktail paired with cocktail sauce + an optional honey mustard. Don’t be boring! Get the honey mustard too and do a double dip. CHEF’S KISS! I also had the most melt-in-your-mouth tuna tar tar and absolutely DECADENT toffee bread putting. To my non alcoholic friends like me, they have mocktails. We had a refreshing, bubbly Fransai Nìl. Mmmmm!!!! Don’t walk…RUN!!! I would give Bar La Rue 10 out of 10 HIGHLY recommend.
